Do I need to be a member of a SCSCA club to show?

​

No! All SCSCA are open shows, meaning anyone can join and you do not need to be a part of a SCSCA club to participate. 

​

You DO need to be a member of a SCSCA club if you want to earn points for year-end high point.

​

You DO need to be a member of any WSCA club and earn 1st or 2nd place at a qualifying WSCA to qualify for competing at the WSCA Champ Show or running during the MN State Fair.

Walk/Trot vs. Walk/Trot/Lope Rule:

​

A Horse/Rider combination may NOT participate in both a Walk/Trot and Walk/Trot/Lope judged class, regardless of discipline (English or Western).

​

Examples:

 YES - Horse/Rider combination enters Walk/Trot Western Pleasure and Walk/Trot English Equitation

​

 YES - Horse/Rider combination enters Walk/Trot Western Pleasure and Walk/Trot Western Horsemanship

 YES - Horse/Rider combination enters Walk/Trot/Lope Western and/or English Pleasure and Walk/Trot/Lope English Equitation and/or Western Horsemanship

 NO - Horse/Rider combination enters Walk/Trot Western Pleasure and Walk/Trot/Lope Western Pleasure or Walk/Trot/Lope Western Horsemanship

 NO - Horse/Rider combination enters Walk/Trot/Lope English Pleasure and Walk/Trot Western Pleasure

“Like Class” Rule:

​

A horse may NOT be used more than once per “like” class.

​

Examples:

 YES - Rider 1 enters Walk/Trot Western Horsemanship and Rider 2 enters Walk/Trot/Lope Western Pleasure or Walk/Trot Western Pleasure

 YES - Rider 1 enters horse in English Equitation and English Pleasure and Rider 2 enters horse in Western Pleasure and Western Horsemanship

 YES - Rider 1 enters horse in Jr. Pole Weaving and Rider 2 enters horse in Int. Barrels.

 NO - Rider 1 enters Walk/Trot Western Horsemanship and Rider 2 enters Walk/Trot/Lope Western Horsemanship

 NO - Horse is entered in 2, 3, 4 year old snaffle bit Western pleasure and horse is entered in Sr.+ Western Pleasure

​

 NO - Rider 1 enters horse in Jr. Pole Weaving and Rider 2 enters horse in Sr.+ Pole Weaving.

 Showing Two Horses in Pattern Classes (SMS, Equitation, Horsemanship):

​

Showing more than one horse in judged pattern classes is NOT automatically guaranteed.

 It is at the discretion of the judge and show committee at EACH show.
Exhibitors should seek approval at each show if they wish to show more than one horse.
 If there is rail work included, only one horse will be allowed.
Some judges may not use patterns, and current rules indicate rail work is required (though not all judges follow that consistently).

 Best practice: Always check with the show committee and judge ahead of time.
